The Child Who Learned to Pray Again

Some children arrive with questions too heavy for their age. One child came into a Kinship family after losing the people who made life feel safe. She had heard prayers before, but after so much pain, prayer felt confusing. If God was near, why had so much been taken?

The caregivers did not force easy answers. They gave her meals, school, a bed, clean clothes, and patient care. They prayed before dinner. They sang during worship. They sat with her when she was quiet. They corrected her with gentleness and reminded her that grief could be brought to God. Slowly, she began to join in. First she listened. Then she sang softly. Then one night, she prayed for another child in the home.

That is what Kinship Care can do. It gives children a place where faith is not just taught, but lived in front of them. When a grieving child begins to pray again, hope is rising.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.”

Psalm 34:18
