Lost in Thailand. Found in Family.
Pohn came into care at six years old after crossing the border into Thailand. At an age when a child should be learning letters, making friends, and feeling protected, he was carrying fear, loss, and uncertainty far too heavy for a young boy.
A Kinship home gave him what crisis had disrupted: structure, school, meals, protection, spiritual care, and adults who kept showing up. That is what these homes do.
They receive children who have lived through loss, displacement, abandonment, or danger and surround them with steady daily care. Wake up. Eat breakfast. Go to school. Do homework. Join worship. Help with chores. Learn responsibility. Keep going. Recover from tragedy and grief.
Year after year, Pohn kept going. This spring, he is graduating from high school — a milestone that represents far more than finishing classes. It represents years of stability, discipline, prayer, and people who refused to let his future be defined by what happened to him.
Now he is looking ahead with dreams for what comes next. His story shows what long-term care can do when a child is given time, faith, structure, and a home strong enough to help him keep moving forward.
“Defend the weak and the fatherless.”
Psalm 82:3
