The Child Who Stopped Listening for Trouble
At The Family Forge, one little girl arrived quiet, watchful, and always listening. She listened when doors opened. She listened when adults spoke. She listened at night when the house became still. Her trauma had taught her to stay alert, even when she was finally safe.
The caregivers at The Family Forge began helping her heal through steady care, patient love, prayer, and therapy. No one rushed her. They gave her the same bed, the same meals, the same routines, and the same gentle reminders that she was safe. Slowly, restoration began. She stopped watching every door. She began playing longer, sleeping deeper, asking for help, and laughing with the other children.
This is what a Kinship family can do for a child carrying trauma. It gives her a place where healing is not just hoped for, but practiced every day.
When a child stops listening for trouble, peace has started to return.
“He will quiet you with his love.”
Zephaniah 3:17
